Indipro Batteries
V-Mount and Gold Mount lithium-ion battery basics, care, runtime, and travel.
What are V-Mount and Gold Mount batteries?
V-Mount and Gold Mount are two types of battery mounting interfaces commonly used for professional video cameras, lights, and broadcast equipment. V-Mount, developed by Sony, is widely recognized by its V-shape locking mechanism. Gold Mount, developed by Anton/Bauer, uses a three-stud design for securing batteries to equipment.
Are V-Mount and Gold Mount batteries interchangeable?
No, they are not interchangeable due to their different mounting mechanisms. V-Mount batteries attach via a V-shaped lock, whereas Gold Mount utilizes a three-stud attachment. However, adapters exist that can allow a V-Mount battery plate to accept Gold Mount batteries and vice versa.
A mount adapter does not necessarily convert voltage. Always verify the battery voltage, device input requirements, and current limits before connecting equipment.
Can I use these batteries for devices other than cameras?
Yes. V-Mount and Gold Mount batteries are also often used for lighting equipment, monitors, and other electronic gear that requires portable power solutions. Compatibility is based on the device's power requirements and if it supports the mounting interface or can be adapted to use it.
What are the benefits of using Li-Ion batteries?
Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) batteries offer several benefits, including higher energy density, lighter weight compared to NiCad or NiMH batteries, and no memory effect, which means you can recharge them without needing to fully discharge them first. They also tend to have a longer overall lifespan.
How do I choose between V-Mount and Gold Mount batteries?
Your choice often depends on compatibility with your existing equipment. If your camera or accessories support one mount over the other, it's generally best to stick with that standard. Considerations might also include personal preference, recommendations from peers, and availability of accessories like chargers and adapters.
Can V-Mount or Gold Mount batteries be carried on a plane?
Spare lithium-ion batteries must travel in carry-on baggage only, with terminals protected against short circuits. Batteries rated up to 100Wh are generally permitted for personal use. Batteries over 100Wh and up to 160Wh require airline approval, with a maximum of two spare batteries per person. Batteries over 160Wh are not permitted in passenger baggage for ordinary camera or lighting use. Check your airline’s requirements before every trip.
How do I care for and maintain these batteries?
To prolong the life of your V-Mount or Gold Mount Li-Ion batteries, store them in a cool, dry place, and avoid fully discharging them before recharging. If not in use for an extended period, store them with about 40-60% charge and recharge them every few months. Use compatible chargers and follow the manufacturer's instructions for charging and handling.
How long do these batteries last on a charge?
Battery life varies depending on the battery’s capacity (measured in Wh, watt-hours), the power consumption of your device, and how it’s being used. For example, a higher-capacity battery might last several hours on a video light, but less time on a high-end cinema camera. Specific performance details can usually be found in the product documentation for the battery and device.
Are there any environmental concerns with using Li-Ion batteries?
Like all batteries, Li-Ion cells have environmental impacts both in production and disposal. They contain hazardous materials and should not be discarded in regular waste. Many regions have specific recycling programs for batteries, ensuring they are disposed of or recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.
Teris Tripods & Fluid Heads
Materials, bowl sizes, payload capacities, parts, and service.
Should I choose carbon fiber or aluminum?
Carbon Fiber: Lighter, easier to transport, and reduces fatigue during long production days.
Aluminum: More affordable, extremely durable, and excellent for studio or fixed-location productions.
What bowl size do I need?
75mm: Mirrorless cameras, DSLRs, compact cinema cameras
100mm: Larger cinema cameras and ENG cameras
150mm: Heavy broadcast cameras, long lenses, and studio productions
These are general guidelines. Match the fluid head’s bowl diameter to the tripod and check the payload and counterbalance specifications for your complete camera rig.
What warranty comes with Teris tripods?
Teris tripods include a 3-Year Limited Warranty covering manufacturing defects under normal use. Warranty terms may vary by product and region.
Can I purchase replacement parts?
Yes. Common replacement parts such as quick-release plates, pan handles, spreaders, feet, and other accessories are available through Teris USA.
Can Teris tripods be serviced?
Yes. Teris USA offers repair services and replacement parts to help keep your equipment performing like new.
What is the difference between a ground spreader and a mid-level spreader?
Ground Spreader: Best for smooth indoor surfaces and maximum stability.
Mid-Level Spreader: Better for uneven terrain, stairs, grass, rocks, and outdoor shooting.
What are the payload capacities for each Teris Fluid Head?
| Fluid head | Payload capacity |
